Fest is Key West erotic answer to New Orleans’ Mardi Gras.
The weeklong event falls around Halloween and brings thousands of
visitors the island. Flights from Miami, Atlanta, and other cities
are sold out months ahead of time, as are hotel rooms. By mid week
downtown is packed with body painted adults strolling from bar to
bar and on Wednesday night the Hog’s Breath Saloon, on Duval
Street, holds its annual “Homemade Bikini Contest.” More
than 40 young women strut their homemade bikinis on stage for thousands
of dollars in prize money. The Ocean Key Resort, at Zero Duval Street,
holds it annual “Body Art Contest” on Friday night, outside
on its Sunset Pier. The pier has a stage the artist used to paint
their human body canvas. Other body painting stations sprout up along
Duval Street all week long. On Saturday, the night of the long parade
that climaxes Fantasy Fest, the Green Parrot Bar on Whitehead Street
holds it “Body Painting Contest.” These photos
are a collection from all three contests.
